Sarah Mehan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of North Florida and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University. Prior to coming to Wayside House, she worked as a primary therapist at a residential high-risk treatment facility for male adolescents at Palm Beach Youth Academy. In this position, Sarah provided group, individual and family counseling focused on improving day-to-day functioning to increase flexibility, improve social skills and develop frustration tolerance to effectively interact with peers and authority figures.
Emphasizing a collaborative approach, Sarah combines techniques from evidence-based practices of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and family systems theory to accomplish positive treatment outcomes. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and is currently working towards licensure in the state of Florida.
