Courtney Phillips, MD is board certified in addiction medicine and general psychiatry. She is our Medical Director since January of 2023 and is also providing direct patient care to Wayside women at all levels of care. Dr. Phillips loves the Wayside mission and is proud to be a Wayside warrior team member. Prior to working at Wayside, Dr. Phillips referred many patients and was always impressed with outcomes. She now is proud to be part of this amazing program.
Dr. Phillips attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan and completed psychiatry residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She moved to South Florida in 2016 and has mostly worked in dual diagnosis settings. She spent one year working at a methadone clinic and 6 years as the behavioral health director of Health Care District of Palm Beach County where she worked in and developed an outpatient and emergent system of care for Palm Beach County Residents struggling with dual diagnosis conditions to improve access to care and quality of care. That program is still running today, and she helps over see it as a contractor. Dr. Phillips also consults with DCF and the state of Florida to help shape evidence-based models of care for substance use disorder programs across the state to increase access to care and improve quality.
Professionally, Dr. Phillips has a passion for improving psychiatric and addiction care as a direct provider and a physician leader. She loves to teach and is adjunct faculty at FAU. She continues to strive to grow and evolve into a better version of herself.
Personally, Dr. Phillips practices gratitude everyday to her God, family, friends and for each gift of a day. She loves to spend time with her kids, husband, extended family and friends who keep her grounded and fulfilled. She loves to cook, dine and be in nature.
